To say that I am heartsick about the ugly turn that the Democratic presidential primary race has taken is a vast understatement. I once admired Hillary; I agonized over my vote in the California primary before deciding that Obama represented the future of the party and following my children's examples (ages 21 and 23). That, obviously, was months ago. Now I'd hate to see her on the ticket. Sigh and double sigh. In the space of six months, our former First Couple has done what a decade of rabid Clinton-haters had failed to do: Make me sick of the Clintons. Here's a tiny glint of optimism to temper the bleakness of Mr. Vaca's analysis: Today, at the Moxie hair salon in an gritty West Sacramento retail mall off Jefferson, a middle-aged woman dropped her octogenarian mother off to get her hair done. Both were European Americans; the older woman proudly displayed an Obama sticker on her walker. "This is a great day for America and the world," her daugher smiled. If the Democrats can't get it together to win the White House this fall, we can't get it together to do anything!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
