Closing in on three minutes left in the half, I find myself strangely calm. The game has gone exactly according to script so far, but I'd feel a lot better about things if the defense could put a little more pressure on Manning, at least more consistently. Aside from the long pass to Vernon Davis, the offense hasn't done much, but they've had a few plays that showed potential - "just missed" sort of plays.
Gonna be a tense second half, that's for sure.
UPDATE - Let me amend that previous statement by saying that unless the 49ers can figure out a way to put some pressure on Eli Manning, they're not going to win this game.
UPDATE II - Well, they figured out a way to put pressure on Eli Manning. They didn't figure out a way to replace Ted Ginn Jr. What a way to lose.
Where would the 49ers be right now if someone other than Kyle Williams were on their punt receiving team?
ReplyDeleteOn their way to Indianapolis, I'd have to day. Unreal.
